Chanel is a priceless investment. Anja looks AMAZING as usual and I’m ashamed to even post a pic next to her blonde majesty. But a point must be made.
Everyone has RAVED about Karl’s barnyard bourgeoisie Chanel SS 2010 collection. While I am a die hard NYCer (black is my uniform all day and all night), coming out the west coast has allowed me to venture into the lighter side of things.
I’m wearing a Chanel SS 1995 jacket! Same pockets. Same tweed. Same silk & chain lining. Same Cream/White combo.
Let’s do some math here girls.
Less embellished Chanel Jackets ON SALE (TAT so everythings on sale) = $2,000. 15 years, wearing it about 50 times per year.
$2.66 per wear.
(I’m ignoring all the cost variables like if one gains ANY weight over the years and requires a personal trainer to maintain one’s svelte size 36, dry cleaning, etc)
Zara Jacket = $180. Let’s be frank here, I’ve had NOTHING from ZARA last more than 3 years before the pilling, fraying and seams become so tattered that it’s utterly unwearable. 20 wears per year (if you were to actually wear a zara jacket 50 times in one season it would fall apart)
$3 per wear. But that it. After 3 years, you’ve got to toss it.
T.A.T. (times are tough), so spend wiseless. Don’t go on those crazy $200 Zara/H&M/forever 21 sprees and save it up. Buy one amazing piece. Have it forever!
